We've always thought the Dinghy Coffin was great, but a few of us here at Landyachtz thought there wasn't enough meat for our feet, so we made a version everyone will love. Now you can get all the style points of the Coffin without sacrificing the comfortable leverage and response you expect from your Dinghy.
SHAPE
The Dinghy Blunt is a small cruiser board that measures 28.5" long and 8.6" wide. The extra width in the front and slight taper mean you get more leverage on the front truck than the rear, giving it a somewhat directional steering characteristic. The Blunt jumps in size compared to our other Dinghy models, as do the trucks. We set up the Dinghy Blunt with Polar Bear 130s to perfectly match the extra width. This setup works best with smaller wheels, so we set it up with 60mm 76a Chubby Hawgs to keep you close to the ground and give you great acceleration. You'll have plenty of room on the trucks for grinds and a nice progressive turn. With virtually the same wheelbase as the Dinghy Classic and about 20% more surface area on top, you'll get the same mini-board vibes you get from the Dinghy, but with added stability and control.
FLEXIBILITY
So, what is flex and why is it important for a skateboard? In skate-nerd terms, flex is the amount of displacement a board sees when a specific force is applied to it. Check out our formula on the left! There are a few factors that affect flex, like deck thickness, wheelbase, and the amount of force on a deck. We built a machine and put our entire line to the test by applying the exact same force to all of our boards and measuring the displacement we saw in each. This results in a totally scientific and accurate flex range across our entire line! Understanding flex is important when choosing a board. Here are some basics: Downhill/freeride skateboards will have less flex because you need a stiff platform to stand on when bombing or grabbing a turn at speed. Carving skateboards will have more flex, giving you the ability to dig into your turns and pump or carve with ease. Most cruising, dancing, and mountain bike boards will have less flex for control when performing tricks, but just enough to be forgiving when getting around town. We've designed our boards with the best flex for each riding style, but remember that flex is subjective, so see what you like best!
SETUP
POLAR BEAR 105MM
Ideal for the mini cruiser that every skater needs in their quiver. The 105mm Polar Bears are strong, agile, and ready to take on the tightest turns. Sold in pairs. The harder the bushings, the more stable the ride, but this translates to less agility—our Dinghy, for example, comes with 88a bushings.
Made famous as the wheel of choice for our complete dinghies, Fatty Hawgs are now available separately in a multitude of colors and patterns so you can upgrade your cruising board today. We use the highest quality urethane to ensure these are the best cruising wheels available. Get a set and see the difference for yourself.
